Email to record label- Ruby

This is the email we have to sent to the record label 'Interscope Records' to see if they have any issues with such things as copyright when we use one of their songs within our final music video creation. The song we have decided to use is 'Diet Mountain Dew' by Lana Del Rey, who is signed to Interscope.

Individual lyric analysis- Ruby

This is my lyric analysis of our chosen song 'Diet Mountain Dew' by Lana Del Rey. As a group we have all come up with our own unique lyric analysis' and have made a final decision together for who's one to choose to base our 'found image' video on and focus some of our initial ideas for our final music video. I have analysed each section of the song to make it visual and clearer to see exactly how our final video may be structured.
However, as a group we have made a decision to use our lyric analysis for our found image that is below this. We have found pictures on the internet that relate to my lyric analysis to make it even more visual to see the intended structure of the video, as well as embedding the song over the slideshow video of images too.

Individual lyric analysis- Katie
Today I have completed lyric analysis for the song 'diet mountain dew'. Once the group have all completed this we will put our ideas together and see which is best or if they could works well together as a concept for our music video and which will fit best into our indie/rock genre.

Lyric Analysis-Abi

This is my lyric analysis of our chosen song 'Diet Mountain Dew' by Lana Del Rey. Around the lyrics I have written notes of possible ideas we could use as a narrative for our music video. Andrew Godwin theorises that there should be a relationship between the lyrics and the video , therefore I feel the lyric 'baby you're no good for me' should represent an abusive relationship. I also feel that this will help raise awareness for domestic abuse as it is a frequent issue arising in modern society.

Lyric Analysis - Nadia
As a group we have all done lyrical analysis for the song 'Diet mountain dew' by Lana Del Rey. We have chosen this songs because we want to produce professional looking products for a female indie/rock audience. Our aim is to break the common stereotype of most of the audience being males. Therefore we have written ideas around the lyrics of what we want the story behind the music video to be. As a group we have decided to do a partly narrative and performance video as we learnt from our primary research that this is what our target audience prefer. Add theorist.....

Found image - Nadia & Ruby
As a group we discussed our lyrics analysis we all created and combined some of our ideas to base our found image. This really helps us develop our ideas and understanding of what needs to be included in a music video. Ruby and I then discussed the best way to create this and we thought imovie would be best, this is so we could break down the song easily linking the right timing with the correct image. By doing this we could apply and break conventions in order for our product planning to look original and unique.

Initial Ideas- Ruby

Below is the video for my initial ideas of the digipak, webpage and music video. I have decided to present it in this way as it allows my ideas to become more visual, helping whoever is watching it to obtain an insight into my own perspective. I have focused on a range of ideas throughout each description as I have a wide range of ideas that needed to be expressed.

Initial ideas - Abi
Below is an image of my initial ideas for the digipak , web page and music video. I decided to present this as a poster/mood board as I felt this was the only way I could show my exact ideas. Although this was a very visual way to present my images it didn't leave me much space to explain the decisions I made therefore I have created a video which analyses and explains my ideas.

Initial ideas - Nadia
I have created a mood board of all my ideas for the Music video, Webpage and Digipak. I have tried to be creative using different mediums to produce this. I have done this in a visual way to engage the audience. I have also produced a video analysing this and why I have chosen to create each of them in this way.

Initial Ideas - Katie

This is the first part of my initial ideas for the music video. These are ideas which I thought would relate well to the song we have chosen and to our chosen genre. I decided to do this as a mind map as I could get down as many ideas as possible but it did not allow me to explain each point in full detail so I will go on to record a soundcloud recording to present each of my ideas in more detail.

Group initial ideas - Abi
After we had all completed our individual ideas , we put all of our ideas together to create a final group idea.

Audience feedback on initial ideas - Abi

I have created a survey using survey monkey.com to enable us to see how the audience have reacted to our initial ideas and see if there are any changes that they would prefer. Below is the link to this survey.

Pre- Pitch Brand Identity Prezi- Ruby

In order for us to gain a clearer idea of how to structure our pitch, I have created this Prezi which explains what brand identity is and the key conventions of it that we can apply to our products and how we will do this.

Brand Identity Pitch

We have now completed our pitch to present to our class. We have aimed to make our targets and concepts clear within the pitch and we have tried to explain why each decision has been made clearly within it to make our products as appealing as possible.

Storyboard- Abi (1st to 5th verse

Storyboard- Ruby (6th to 10th verse)

This is my storyboard for our music video. As a group we allocated eachother 5 verse's of our chosen song to visual show our ideas through hand drawn pictures and a more detailed description. By splitting it up like this it gives each of us to show our skills of story board creating and not just one individual. It is also a fairer and more efficient way as it is quicker and gives us more time to complete other time consuming tasks.

Storyboard- Katie (11th to15th verse)

Storyboard- Nadia (16th to 19th verse)

Camera angle practice-Abi and Ruby
Myself and Ruby practiced different camera angles that we could use within our music video and ancillary products. We feel that this will enable us to see what shots are effective and therefore we will include in our final construction , and the shots that were not so effective and therefore we may reconsider.I have put these photos together into a presentation using the app 'Imovie' , I have also added our chosen song 'Diet Mountain Dew' which plays in the background of the presentation.

Prop List - Nadia

Digipak rough - Nadia
I have produced a computer rough of the webpage, I have including relevant images in relation to the indie rock genre and our theme. This gives us a better idea of how we want the final outcome of the product to look like.

Webpage Hand drawn Rough - Katie
This is the rough hand drawn outline for the webpage design. By creating this rough outline of a typical webpage it will help us when making decisions and conclusions about our final webpage.

Webpage Computer Rough- Ruby

This is my computer rough for the webpage design. By creating a rough outline of what we plan to do, it helps our decisions become visual so that we can come to conclusions about the final product clearer.

Video Roughs - Abi and Ruby

We have practiced taking pictures and recording videos of the types of angles and performance shots we plan to use in our final construction. Myself and Ruby have visited two different locations that are similar to where we plan to film , to enable us to make the practice shots as close to what the real construction will be like as possible.

Female Actor Auditions- Abi and Ruby

Myself and Ruby did some miming as an audition to be in our music video. We feel that we need to audition our possible actors to ensure they are able to mime, so that our music video will look as professional as possible.
